Volunteer with Generation Success

Someone opened a door for you once. Now it’s your turn.

Whether it was a conversation, a chance, or someone who simply believed in you — that moment mattered. Help us create it for the next generation.

200+ volunteers supported OYD 2025 across 3 cities and 10 employers.

“I volunteer because I remember being 19 and not knowing the rules of a world nobody explained to me. Now I get to explain them.”

Three Ways to Get Involved

Choose the role that fits your time, your skills, and your story.

Every role makes a real difference.
Pick one — or more than one.

Chaperone

Be there on the day. Welcome young people as they arrive at an employer’s office, guide them through the visit, and make sure they feel safe, supported, and confident.

Time: 1 day (18 September 2026)

Where: At a host employer’s office in your city

You need: Warmth, reliability, a DBS check (we’ll arrange if needed)

Volunteer as Chaperone →

Mentor

Build an ongoing relationship with a young person navigating their early career. Share your experience, challenge their thinking, and help them see what’s possible beyond the obvious paths.

Time: 1–2 hours per month, 6-month commitment

Where: Virtual or in-person (your choice)

You need: 3+ years of professional experience and genuine interest in someone else’s growth

Become a Mentor →

Corporate Ambassador

You work at an organisation that should be opening its doors — but it hasn’t yet. Be the internal champion who makes it happen. We’ll give you everything you need to get sign-off.

Three Ways to Get Involved

What you get back is more than what you give.

Benefit 1: Perspective you can’t get at your desk

Hearing a 20-year-old describe what the professional world looks like from the outside will change how you think about inclusion, hiring, and leadership.

Benefit 2: A network of people who care about the same things

You’ll join a community of professionals across sectors who believe access shouldn’t depend on who your parents know.

Benefit 3: Leadership and coaching skills that transfer

Mentoring builds your ability to listen, develop others, and communicate across difference — skills every employer values.

Benefit 4: Recognition that matters

Every volunteer receives a certificate, a LinkedIn recommendation, and an invitation to our annual awards. Mentors receive structured training and ongoing support.

The impact is real — and it’s measurable.

In OYD 2025, volunteers and mentors directly contributed to outcomes that changed young people’s career trajectories.

Testimonials

I’ve done a lot of corporate volunteering. This is the only programme where I saw someone’s entire outlook change in a single day

-OYD 2025 Chaperone | Financial Services Professional

My mentee went from not knowing what consulting was to securing an internship at a Big Four firm. That’s not my achievement — but I got to watch it happen.

Common Questions

Before you sign up.

Do I need a DBS check?

A: For chaperones, yes — but if you don’t have one, we’ll arrange it. Mentors also need a DBS check. We’ll guide you through the process and cover any costs.

How much time does mentoring actually take?

A: One to two hours per month for six months. Most mentoring happens over video calls. It’s designed to fit around a full-time job — not replace it.

Can I volunteer as a chaperone if I’ve never done anything like this?

A: Absolutely. Most of our chaperones are first-timers. We provide a full briefing, a run-of-day schedule, and a team lead on site. You won’t be on your own.

What does a Corporate Ambassador actually do?

A: You’re the person inside your organisation who says “we should be doing this.” We’ll give you a one-page summary, partner case studies, and talking points for your leadership team. You pitch it internally — we handle everything else.

Can I do more than one role?

A: Yes. Many of our mentors also chaperone on OYD day, and some Corporate Ambassadors become mentors after their employer joins. Pick what feels right now — you can always expand later.

Is there an age requirement?

A: Volunteers must be 21 or older. For mentors, we require at least 3 years of professional experience to ensure mentees get genuinely useful guidance.
